Why “local” gets the gold star: a file on your computer can’t be changed by a random website outage, doesn’t need you to trust a host for uptime, and keeps the whole tool in a folder you control. The online site and extension are still private by design — local is just the simplest mental model.
Install the extension (manual, until Store is live)
  1. Download the extension zip and unzip it to a folder you’ll keep (don’t delete the folder later).
  2. Open chrome://extensions (Chrome) or edge://extensions (Edge).
  3. Turn on Developer mode (top right).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped extension folder.
  5. Pin CalmClick from the puzzle-piece menu if you like. Right‑click any link → Check with CalmClick.

As soon as the Chrome Web Store listing is approved, paste the URL into config.js (chromeStoreUrl). The big button above will open the Store automatically.
